Die Wortwahl zwischen als und wie ist keine Frage der Rechtschreibung, da geht es stattdessen darum, wie gegebene Wörter GESCHRIEBEN werden, also dass /als aʊ̯x/ mit als auch zu verschriftlichen ist und nicht etwa âllß auuh. Ob dagegen überhaupt /als aʊ̯x/ oder /viː aʊ̯x/ korrekt ist, ist keine Rechtschreibfrage*; in der Linguistik wird der tatsächliche Gebrauch beschrieben, und da kann man einen Wandel feststellen (festSTELLEN statt festLEGEN!): Früher wurde nach Komparativen denn gebraucht (zum Beispiel wîzer dan snê (weißer als Schnee)) und nach Positiven als (man vergleiche das mit den verwandten englischen Wörtern than und as!), was aber durch das Wort wie weitgehend verdrängt wurde.
Heute heißt es standardsprachlich in der Regel so groß wie und größer als, jedoch hat sich in bestimmten Wendungen das altmodische als/denn erhalten, zum Beispiel (mehr/größer/…) denn je und eben sowohl – als auch.
(* Zugegebenermaßen kann es in geschriebener Sprache Besonderheiten geben, was die Wortwahl angeht, und sie kann die gesprochene Sprache wiederum beeinflussen (zum Beispiel buchstabiert gesprochene Abkürzungen), so fein säuberlich lässt sich das also auch nicht trennen.)
